Good News For The Construction Industry.

Congratulations to IJM for bagging yet another new contract. This time, its the huge RM1.3billion water transfer project, of which they hold 20% of the joint venture. Thats a good sign - it means our new government administrators are keeping to their word. I personally hope that Najib and his new force are able to lift the country out of the recent downs; I mean, its not easy - especially with all the negative forces against you. The world economy is down, the world is swept with a possible swine flu pandemic, uncertainties over commodity prices and so on.

Awards of new contracts at this challenging time is a very good sign for the economy. Perhaps there is much hope and lets hope the economy in Malaysia can recover soon. The KLCI broke the 1,000 point barrier also yesterday and this morning opened upwards of 1,015 too.

Anyways, here's the article from The Star. The article is as follows:-

PETALING JAYA: IJM Corp Bhd said a joint venture (JV) in which it has an indirect stake of 20% has received a letter of acceptance for the water transfer tunnel and related works under the Pahang-Selangor raw water transfer project at a contract sum of about RM1.3bil.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, IJM said the five-year contract was awarded to Shimizu-Nishimatsu-UEMB-IJM JV by the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry.

The JV is a 30:30:20:20 company between Shimizu Corp, Nishimatsu Construction Co Ltd, UEM Builders Bhd and IJM Construction Sdn Bhd, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of IJM Corp.

  1. Hi,

The White Card Tasmania will also research safety practices being used across the country and around the world and urge governmental agencies to adopt safety standards that all contractors should follow. For the first time, the group will bring contractors together to share safety information with each other.

    Warm Regards,
    Jason
